Bring the whole family to the Celtic festival of Samhain and discover what life was like in Gaulish times, thanks to the Mediomatrici and Skâliesus Cambiare re-enactment troupes.
Mediomatrici: Made up of archaeology enthusiasts and professionals specializing in archaeological experimentation, the French Mediomatrici troupe's main objective is to evoke and recreate the way of life of the Gauls at the end of the La Tène period (1st century BC). It bears the name of the Celtic people who once lived in Moselle.
The Skâliesus Cambiare: The Skâliesus Cambiare troupe, originally from southern Germany, also recreates the lifestyle of the Gauls in the La Tène period. In Celtic, their name means "those who work in the shadow of Esus", the god of roads and trade.
Program: - Craft workshops: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, non-stop. - Visit to the camp. - Handicraft workshops with public participation: tablet weaving, pottery, straw object making, ex-voto making. - Craft demonstrations: coin minting, jewelry and amber bead making, fabric making. - Activities from 4pm to 6pm: Gallic musical entertainment (lyre, carnyx), combat demonstrations and displays of Gallic weaponry and clothing. - Celtic funeral ceremony from 6pm to 7pm with torch-lit procession, evocation of the life of the deceased, deposit of offerings and funeral pyre.
