A hair-raising experience in Amnéville!
The adventures of Solen and her daughter began with a tranquil night in a wooden cabin at Pin Sylvestre in Amnéville. The following morning, the excitement really began with the thrills and spills of Walygator theme park. “There were pumpkins everywhere!”, reflects Maëlle, who took a ride on the Waly Express to discover the whole park.
Their busy day ended with a second night at château de Logne in Volstroff. Conveniently, “it was just a few kilometres away as everything is close together”.
The following morning, they headed to Amnéville Zoo. According to Solen, “It’s a must-see. Maëlle was determined to see the gorillas and she was not disappointed.” And to top it all, the 7-year-old had the chance to experience the magical illuminations at the "Luminescences". “I loved the fire eaters. It was so beautiful!”
Each edition offers a magical new atmosphere, transforming the Zoo into a place steeped in a different universe each year. As night falls, visitors can admire over 10,000 light installations that create a dazzling spectacle of colours and shapes.
Special events at Malbrouck Castle
After a day packed with adventure, Solen and Maëlle continued to explore, immersing themselves in the Moselle’s history at Malbrouck Castle in Manderen, an architectural gem dating from the late 15th century.
There was plenty for the family to see: “It felt like we’d gone back in time a few centuries.” An afternoon transformed by the Beasts & Witches event, featuring all sorts of creatures brought in especially for Halloween. It's a moment out of time.
The Jardins Fruitiers de Laquenexy
For the rest of their stay, Solen and Maëlle made a must-taste stop at the legendary Auberge de la Klauss and its local produce. Maëlle had the last word: “it was too good!”. They then went on to the Jardins Fruitiers de Laquenexy for a pumpkin carving and other Beasts & Witches activities!
Go with the flow to discover Metz
To round off their stay, Solen and her daughter took a unique approach to exploring Metz. They discovered the city from a new perspective on a boat trip with Compagnie des Bateaux de Metz. “It’s a completely different experience on the water. You see a different side of the city and with its green spaces and monuments, Metz is full of surprises!” explains Solen.
This voyage of discovery had Maëlle spellbound until, all of a sudden, it was time for lunch in the hustle and bustle of the legendary Metz covered market. Time to refuel at L’Assiette du Marché – Chez Mauricette, a real institution serving traditional cuisine made from local ingredients.
After lunch, they continued exploring Metz with a tour of the city’s major sites, stopping to wonder what was hidden under the white sail of Centre Pompidou-Metz.
