The monks of Villers-Bettnach Abbey have left their mark on this hilly landscape crisscrossed by a host of little brooks. Le Chêne des Moines (Monks’ Oak), La Forge (The Forge), and even Etang des Moines (Monks’ Pond) nearby are all place names that preserve the memory of this history-laden site. A brief visit of the traces of those who shaped these lands, forests, and ponds over more than 500 years is a must.
