Leaving Metz from the south, the Voie Bleue alternates between the Moselle and a series of ponds, before reaching Jouy-aux-Arches, known for its Roman aqueducts. Arnaville marks your entry into Meurthe-et-Moselle and you can see the rocks of La Fraze and the vineyards of Ancy-Dornot. From Pagny-sur-Moselle, the cycle route runs quietly along the Moselle side canal to Pont-à-Mousson. The town has some beautiful treasures, such as the triangular Place Duroc and the magnificent Abbaye des Prémontrés.

South of Metz, the route follows the left bank of the Moselle on a beautiful car-free route. You will find the name "Charles the Bold" on the signs at several points along the route. Vaux marks your entry into the Lorraine nature park. At the road bridge in Moulins-lès-Metz, the route crosses over to the other bank (right bank). Beware, this is a dangerous crossing which must be done on the pavement next to your bike. You join the greenway route on the other side through forests and ponds to Corny-sur-Moselle where the cycle route changes banks again (left bank again) by a busy and rather narrow road bridge over the RD66. At Novéant-sur-Moselle, the route runs alongside the Moselle side canal on a paved greenway. At the level of the canal bridge (closed to the public), the route bends towards Arnaville where it takes the RD912 and RD952. Be careful when taking the route at the exit of the village on your left. The cycle route alternates between small roads and greenways as far as Pagny-sur-Moselle, then follows the towpath without difficulty to Pont-à-Mousson.
