Practical information
Fitness / outdoor trails from NORROY LE VENEUR, mode of transport / activity : Walking-related, on the theme(s) : Cultural, Historic.
Although the village of Norroy owes its name to walnuts (from "Nogaredum": the Land of Walnuts), it was also known for its vines until the 19th century. To counter the ravages of Phylloxera, it developed fruit growing, strawberries and fruit trees, as evidenced by the orchards that still occupy the slopes. Occupied with certainty since the Merovingian period, the village also boasts an exceptional built heritage: numerous fountains, its fortified church and the old mill, whose last extension and bucket wheel date from 1845.
