Discovery tour of the various battle blocks of Fort du Simserhof, part of the Maginot Line.
This bunker is one of the largest artillery works in France, and the arsenal contained in the various combat blocks enabled it to remain undefeated. Along this signposted route, you will find mixed blocks (howitzer and machine gun cannon + observation turrets and/or grenade launchers) which are very rare in the Maginot system. You'll also find anti-tank rails and pig tails that have remained untouched since the end of the war. A trail rich in history in the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, in the heart of the forest of the Pays de Bitche.
The trail can be walked on your own, or with IVV participation (map and stamps available from the Simserhof reception desk or at the Tourist Office of Bitche).
