Ville de Bitche
In 1984, Bitche town council decided to convert the Stadtweiher valley, situated to the south of the Citadel, into a garden.
In no time at all, an idea came to mind to decorate the park with sculptures and make it into an area of contemporary art which could be admired by the town's 5800 inhabitants; this experiment was unique in France for a town of this size.
The artists were asked to take into account the environment that surrounded them and for the moment the following works of art have been created:
The Fountain by Jean Amado
The Small citadel by laurent Amat
The Great Visit by Lavato
The White Beach by Pierre Tual
Bitche Column by Bernard Pages
The Chandelier by Philippe Stark
Other projects are underway.
