The monumental silhouette of the Bitche Citadel emerges from the hills of the Northern Vosges like a ship fortified by Vauban and Cormontaigne, two geniuses of military architecture. Its tumultuous history is presented to you during a film tour, particularly the heroic episodes of the 1870 War.

On the upper plateau of the citadel, the historical museum "Des Hommes dans la Guerre de 1870" (Men in the 1870 War) houses archive images, collections of weapons and uniforms that bear witness to the experience of men on the battlefields. The recently restored Vauban chapel now houses the original relief plan of Bitche, an exceptional model dating from 1794 and classified as a historical monument.
At its feet, discover the sumptuous Jardin Pour la Paix.
With the entrance ticket to the citadel, a reduced rate is granted to the entrance of the Garden for Peace.
There is a free camping car area in the citadel car park.
