RUINES DU CHÂTEAU

OTTANGE
RUINES DU CHÂTEAU

By 1734, virtually nothing remained of the medieval "chastel", which had already been partially demolished in 1671 by order of Louis XIV. Jean-Antoine d'Eltz had a château built, which later passed to his brother Philippe-Antoine, then to his nephew Philippe-Charles d'Hunolstein, who left it partly unoccupied. What remained of the château after the fire of 1792 was demolished in 1810.
A large tower, a vestige of the medieval castle, can still be seen today. The only vestige of the 18th-century château is the servitude building, whose windows are decorated with ornamental motifs.
