Historic monument or place to visit in BASSE RENTGEN, on the theme(s) Sacred art, awarded with the Label Listed historic monument (MH).
Listed a historic monument, the chapel of the Château de Preisch was built in 1773 by Francois de Lasalle. It was a simple, austere, solidly built Romanesque chapel with a bare interior. A square wooden tower topped with a slender spire housed the bell of the fortified castle’s chapel. The bell, forged in 1564, was named Magdalena and can still be seen today.
Two funeral monuments of the Schawenbourgs, the former Lords of Preisch, have been adapted on each side of the altar. They come from the chapel of Saint John the Baptist in the old fortress and date from the sixteenth century.
