This transverse lift, the only one of its kind in Europe, replaces a series of 17 locks stretching over 4 km, which used to take a day to navigate. Located on the Marne-au-Rhin canal in the Phalsbourg area, it allows boaters to cross the threshold of the Vosges Massif by overcoming a difference in height of 44.55m in a few minutes.
