Practical information

Museum in METZ, on the theme(s) History, awarded with the Label Other places to visit, Label Maisons des Illustres.
On the 1st floor, a large, bourgeois-style apartment dating from the 1850s in Metz is waiting to be discovered. Facing due west, the setting sun floods the rooms with light and shimmering reflections. Visitors are drawn into Verlain's sensitive soul. The space comprises four exhibition rooms and a reception/bookshop. Each room is dedicated to a memory of the poet: his origins in Lorraine, his childhood in Metz, the events that consecrated him both in Metz and Paris, his youth under the Second Empire, his meeting with Arthur Rimbaud, his mature work, the blossoming of his fame and posthumous glory.
