LA TOUR DE LÉANDRE

A little history ...
According to Turkish legend, an Oracle foretold a Sultan that his daughter would be bitten by a snake on her 18th birthday. To prevent this misfortune and protect his daughter, the Sultan had a tower built to house her. He was the only one to visit her. On the day of this famous birthday, believing he had won against the Oracle, he visited his daughter with a basket full of fruit. But a snake lurking inside bit the girl and she suddenly died. The Oracle's prophecy was thus fulfilled.

To this day, the Tower bears the name of the Sultan's daughter, Léandre.

Also known as Kiz Kulesi in Turkish, this tower stands on an island between the European and Asian shores of Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. It served as a lighthouse for centuries, and today houses a restaurant offering panoramic views to its guests.

The Leander Tower is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful buildings on the Bosphorus.
